Sefhare rehabilitation drainage works project to be terminated
13 Nov 2023
The long outstanding rehabilitation of Sefhare drainage works project will be terminated before the end of this month due to a contractual matter.
In that regard, Minister of Transport and Public Works Mr Eric Molale said preparation of the Invitation to Tender (ITT) for completion works was ongoing and works on site was expected to commence by the end of February 2024.
Minister Molale was answering a question from Sefhare/Ramokgonami Member of Parliament Dr Kesitegile Gobotswang, on behalf of the Minister of Lands and Water Affairs Dr Kefentse Mzwinila.
He said rehabilitation of Sefhare drainage works project which was planned for completion in July 2018, was abandoned by the contractor at 68 per cent and attempts by the ministry to have the contractor back on the project had proved futile. Mr Molale said between 2016 and 2018, the ministry implemented three projects of storm water drainage maintenance in Tswapong area. He said the affected locations included Sefhare, Borotsi, Chadibe and Mokobeng.
He said the projects included maintenance of drainage works in Sefhare-Borotsi-Chadibe and Mokobeng villages, culvert installation and rehabilitation of Borotsi village drainage works as well as rehabilitation of Sefhare drainage works.
Dr Gobotswang had asked the minister to update Parliament on the state of storm water drainage projects at Borotsi, Chadibe, Mokobeng and Sefhare as per assurance made during the last tour by the Speaker of the National Assembly and subsequent visit by the Minister as well as state the timelines of activities to be undertaken towards the completion of the projects.
