Cross Corn remains a beacon of progress innovation

Celebrating Cross Corn’s 10-year anniversary is a testament to the company’s growth, innovation, and unwavering commitment to Botswana’s agriculture sector.

Speaking at the company’s 10-year anniversary celebration in Gaborone on Thursday, Minister of Health, Dr Edwin Dikoloti, said Cross Corn was a leading player in Botswana agriculture sector.

He commended Cross Corn for a decade of active involvement in the local agriculture sector, adding that agriculture was vital to the livelihood of many citizens, particularly those operating subsistence farms.

He acknowledged government’s initiatives, including the newly launched Temo Letlotlo, which aimed at addressing challenges faced by farmers and productivity. Dr Dikoloti said Temo Letlotlo presented an advanced and comprehensive architecture, designed to address diverse needs of arable farmers throughout the entire agricultural value chain.

“This system seamlessly incorporates state-of-the-art automation and mechanisation, along with carefully structured financial solutions, all while prioritizing the importance of climate-smart technologies, underlining the government’s commitment to supporting farmers and boosting the agriculture sector” he said.He emphasised the significance of embracing modern technologies in agriculture, as well as fostering strategic collaborations to enhance resilience and increased productivity. He hailed Cross Corn for the role it played in the growth of the agriculture sector

The Chief Executive Officer for Cross Corn, Mr Cobus Campher, said the journey was not only about supplying seeds, but also about innovation, commitment, and the creative spirit.

He said he appreciated Batswana and the government for their support over the past decade. The company transformed from a seed distributor into Botswana’s primary producer of seeds and its role in enhancing agricultural productivity and food security.

“Cross Corn’s collaboration with quality seeds from South Africa, under a licence, has been a remarkable testament to our commitment to quality and growth,” he said. “The company is dedicated to sustainable, responsible business practices, and belief in limitless potential of Botswana’s agriculture sector.”
