Three teachers overstayed at Artesia8232
05 Dec 2013
Assistant minister of Education and Skills Development Mr Patrick Masimolole says three teachers at Artesia Primary School have overstayed in terms of Transfer Policy requirements.
Answering a question in parliament on Wednesday, December 5, Mr Masimolole said the policy stipulates overstay for teachers as six years while for school heads and deputies, it is eight years. He therefore said this implies that the three teachers have overstayed with eight years, 10 years and six years respectively.
He however said based on the exigencies of the service the teachers will be considered for transfer in 2014.
“It must however be noted that transfers to any places which are considered by teachers as remote have been found to be difficult as teachers prefer to work in urban and peri-urban areas”, he said.
MP for Kgatleng West, Mr Gilbert Mangole had asked the minister to state the length of time served by individual teachers to date at Artesia Primary School and also to state the number of those who have overstayed in terms of transfer policy. In addition the MP wanted to know when these teachers should be expected to be transferred. ENDS
