Morwaeng donates four bulls

Minister for State President, Mr Kabo Morwaeng, on October 21 donated three Simmental bulls and a red Brahman bull on behalf of President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi in Ngamiland.
President Masisi recently donated 40 bulls in Okavango, Ngamiland, Maun East and Maun West.
The four beneficiaries were Mr Yarubi Samati of Daunara who received a Simmental bull, Mr Makushe Rupuru of Tsutsubega who also received a Simmental bull, Mr Leshahetse Bendu of Komana who was gifted a red Brahman bull and Mr Boifang Mosweu of Toteng who also received a Simmental bull.
Presenting the bulls to the beneficiaries, Mr Morwaeng said the President’s bull donation initiative was aimed at improving the quality of local cattle, increasing their numbers, improving the quality of beef as well as improving the lives of Batswana.
Mr Morwaeng pleaded with beneficiaries to take care of the bulls and to ensure that they were always in good health and vaccinated.
He urged the commercial farmers to donate bulls to the President’s initiative to improve the genetic makeup of cattle across the country.
All the beneficiaries promised to take good care of the bulls to increase their herd, produce quality breed and for other farmers in their area to benefit.
Still on Saturday, Minister of Health, Dr Edwin Dikoloti, also handed over four bulls as a donation from President Masisi. The beneficiaries were from Xhana, Chanoga, Samedupi No.3 and Xhobe cattle posts in Maun East constituency.
The four beneficiaries were Mr Mompati Makgetho of Xhana who received a Simmental bull, Mr Kauta Kandjou of Chanoga who also received a Simmental bull, Mr Leemekae Sethabisa of Samedupi No.3 who was gifted a Charolais bull and Ms Boipheto Itumeleng of Xhobe who received a Brahman bull.
Dr Dikoloti told the farmers that he was donating the bulls on behalf of President Masisi.
He said the initiative was aimed at improving the quality of cattle in the country, emphasising that the bulls should be given special care so that they could be of benefit to farmers in the area.
Farmers who came to witness the donation were also encouraged to support the beneficiaries as they would benefit from the bulls.
He told farmers that Ministry of Agriculture officials would go around the country teaching farmers on how to conduct artificial insemination. He also advised farmers to milk semen from their bulls and to keep it for future use.
Dr Dikoloti told farmers that the bulls were medically screened and were in good condition.
Receiving the bulls, beneficiaries were all smiles and commended President Masisi for the initiative. They also wished him good health as he embarked on the initiative to help other Batswana. ENDS
