Cresta Marakanelo Limited (CML) has announced the impending completion of the South Wing extension at Cresta Mahalapye, which is expected to open its doors to the public in November.

The new wing will add an additional 60 rooms, which include two presidential suites, two executive suites and a paraplegic-friendly room, CML Managing Director, Mr Mokwena Morulane has revealed.

Mr Morulane said the extension also has integrated conference facilities including a state-of-the-art soundproof conference room capable of hosting up to 100 delegates in a conference-style setup, as well as an additional boardroom and a meeting room, all digitally geared for the latest conferencing technologies.

“Cresta Mahalapye’s expansion solidifies its position as a top-tier accommodation choice in the Central region. The new South Wing and the existing North Wing cumulatively bring the total room inventory of Cresta Mahalapye to 124 rooms and six conference rooms. This addition complements the existing conferencing capacity of the hotel which currently accommodates up to 250 delegates, increasing the total conference hosting capacity of the hotel to just under 400 delegates,” said Mr Morulane.

He pointed out that this increased capacity is expected to draw more visitors to Mahalapye and surrounding areas, promoting economic activity and local tourism in the region.

He said as the hospitality and tourism industry in Botswana and across the globe continues to evolve, the Cresta Mahalapye expansion underscores a strategic investment and displays CML’s confidence in the sector’s resilience.

Mr Morulane said the project comes as part of a deliberate development trajectory across the Group, following the ongoing refurbishments at Cresta Botsalo in Palapye as well as Cresta Thapama and Cresta Marang in Francistown, and the construction of the 50-room Cresta Jwaneng Boutique Hotel which is expected to open doors early next year.
