Molepolole South MP, Kabo Morwaeng has been praised for sponsoring the games that were played in his constituency during the Independence long weekend.

Different teams competed in both football and netball.

In addition to sponsoring the games, Morwaeng also provided food in all wards in his constituency for Independence Day celebrations.

“We ate well and enjoyed the games.

We look forward to more games of this nature in future,” said Thabo Ketlhagotswe from Ntloyadibe, who pointed out that the tournament was well organised adding they never experienced any difficulties and there were no quarrels over anything.

He thanked Morwaeng, who has been sponsoring the games that are played on Easter, President’s Day, and Independence Day holidays, for almost 10 years.

Ketlhagotswe said this had made it easy for residents to plan for holidays, adding that the games had helped keep youth occupied, thus lowering road traffic accidents.

Former Township Rollers player Kobamelo Kebaikanye, also participated in the tournament and Ketlhagotswe said this illustrated the tournament’s growth.

He disclosed that some of the players who featured in previous tournaments had been recruited by Botswana Football Association (BFA) registered teams, while others were training as coaches.

Councillor for Loologa, Motlhophi Leo said Morwaeng, who is also the Minister for State President, showed a sharing spirit through his organisation, Good Samaritans.

“We have to thank the minister for this gesture as he uses funds from his organisation in a transparent manner,” he said.

He urged the participants to take the games seriously saying they could use them to develop their skills and be scouted by BFA teams.

Leo advised them to use their prize money wisely, urging them to plough the proceeds into things that bear tangible results.

“You can buy playing kit or set up a tuckshop to raise funds. I want to see you better dressed during the April tournaments,” he said.

Morwaeng thanked the teams for their participation and the peaceful manner in which the games were organised.

He explained that the aim of the tournament was to unite the constituents and to enable them to build networks, as well as promoting healthy lifestyles.

He urged the players to continue to jealously protect the country and further encouraged them to embrace the Mindset Change agenda.

He encouraged everyone to register to vote in next year’s general election when registration starts in November. ENDS
