BSE registers P2.89bn turnover in one day

Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) has on September 4, recorded a record-breaking P2.89 billion turnover in a single day of trading, the highest in the history of exchange.
Briefing the media in Gaborone on September 5, BSE chief executive officer, Mr Thapelo Tsheole, said the single turnover in trading joined a series of significant trade milestones by the organisation in recent years including P494.3 million that was recorded in 2016, P484.6 million in 2017, P458.6 million in 2018, P149.8 million in 2019, P1.1 billion in 2021, P142.8 million in 2022 and P235.7 million this year.
“This milestone is a clear demonstration of the BSE capability to handle large trades and efforts such as this instill great confidence in our market particularly before our diversified investor base,” Mr Tsheole said.
He added that they remained proud of their record-breaking milestones year after year as they looked forward to continually increasing the size of the market.
He thanked BSE’s dedicated teams as well as market participants for their solidarity in making such accomplishment a reality. ENDS
