Sebego Primary School needs maintenance

02 Dec 2013

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development is aware that Sebego Primary School in Kanye needs maintenance.

Responding to a question in Parliament on Wednesday, November 27, Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said the school’s classrooms, toilets and teachers’ houses required maintenance.

She explained that the Southern District Council had been unable to carry out cyclical maintenance of the buildings due to budgetary constraints. However, she said the structures were undergoing minor maintenance using the handyman and through Ipelegeng programme.

“Structures that have been identified for minor maintenance by council and works are anticipated to be completed before the end of January in 2014,” she said. These included baths in teachers’ houses, school boundary fence, main entrance gate and four toilets.

She also said the school will be given additional chairs and text books in January. Ms Tshireletso was responding to a question from Kanye South MP, Mr Abram Kesupile who had wanted to know plans to renovate buildings at the school, as well as provision of learning materials. ENDS
