BDF Welfare Fund operatinal

The Botswana Defence Force (BDF) Welfare Fund has never been discontinued.
The Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Dikgakgamatsi Seretse explained when responding to a question in Parliament recently. Instead, he said, it was only the issuance of loans which was suspended in April due to apparent abuse.
“The issuance of welfare loans continues to be suspended pending conclusion of the internal audit investigations which are still on-going.
Members still contributed to the fund, because it was in existence. Mr Seretse was responding to a question from Francistown South MP, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi who had asked him to state progress made regarding the BDF Welfare Fund, and whether members still made contributions to the fund. Ends
