The provision of fire services for the Nata/Gweta area through the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model has been included in the Transitional National Development Plan.
Answering a question in Parliament, Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Sethabelo Modukanele said his ministry acknowledged the importance of establishing a fire station in Nata due to the long distance coverage by the Francistown and Sowa fire brigades.
“Preparations are underway to facilitate implementation of this project at Shakawe, Masunga, Mahalapye, Hukuntsi, Ramotswa, and Mmadinare during the TNDP and the project will form part of the bids for the 2024/2025 financial year,” said Mr Modukanele.
Member of Parliament for Nata/Gweta, Mr Polson Majaga had wanted an update on when the Nata fire station construction would commence as was communicated in January/February 2023 through a cabinet directive that stated the need for such a project at Nata due to the distance from Francistown and Sowa Town. ends
