Minister Molale to ask for re-gravelling of roads
26 Jul 2023
The Ministry of Transport and Public Works is aware of the bad state of the Molepolole-Lentsweletau and Molepolole-Mahetlwe-Lentsweletau roads and the daily high traffic volumes along them.
Minister Eric Molale said his ministry did not have a short-term plan to construct the Molepolole-Lentsweletau and Molepolole-Mahetlwe roads in the ongoing second Transitional National Development Plan.
He explained that consideration was being given to upgrade the Lentsweletau-Mahetlwe-Hatsalatladi road through the use of emerging applied technologies in the current financial year.
Mr Molale also said he was in the process of requesting the Minister of Finance to put a request before Cabinet and subsequently Parliament to enable the re-gravelling or maintaining of road networks around the country.
Molepolole North MP, Mr Oabile Regoeng had asked the minister if he was aware of the bad state of the Molepolole-Lentsweletau and Molepolole-Mahetlwe-Lentsweletau roads and the daily heavy traffic along them.
He also wanted the minister to apprise Parliament on whether there were any plans in the short-term to upgrade one of the roads to bitumen standard. Ends
