Makungulupeswa gain DFDN league promotion

04 Jul 2023

Sebina/Nshakashogwe side Lamela Mangwe FC has been promoted to the Debswana First Division North league after collecting nine points in a series of three playoff games at Francistown Old Stadium over the weekend.

Makungulupeswa, as Lamela Mangwe is affectionately called in football circles, walloped Kazungula FC 2-1 in their third match to advance to the higher level during the second division northern block playoffs on Sunday.

This was a continuation of their winning streak after they had on Saturday humiliated Desert Buffalos of Madikola from Boteti by 3-2 prior to their victory against City Kings of Gumare Streams cleaning them 1-0.

To play against Lamela Mangwe FC, Kazungula FC had lost 3-1 to Desert Buffalos and defeated City Kings 1-0.

Lamela Mangwe FC Coach, Mudanga Moloisi said the secret behind their win was treating each game as if they were playing in the final and that worked for them because they managed to collect maximum points from each game.

Accepting defeat, Kazungula FC Coach, Kgotla Disele said his boys played very well in the first half because they contained Lamela Mangwe FC and managed to get a goal despite the threats it encountered.

Makungulupeswa won themselves a trophy and gold medals whilst the second runner up, Desert Buffalos received silver medals.

Desert Buffalos, who accumulated six after beating City Kings 4-0, will now face Pilikwe FC in the playoffs to be played in a date and venue to be communicated.

Lamela Mangwe FC and Tsabotlhe FC will replace Tafic FC and Rolling Guys as Tafic has been promoted to the elite league while Rolling Guys has been relegated to second division. ENDS
