Voorslaag Boteti Agricultural and Mining exposition scheduled to officially open on Friday is aimed to equip farmers with knowledge and advanced farming skills.
The exposition activation kickstarted in Letlhakane on Wednesday, with the objective to transfer knowledge and skills from the supplier or service provider to the end user.
The expo, themed Embracing Digital World of Technology: Unlocking the Power of Technology for Business Growth, said the event is sponsored by Debswana, Lucara Botswana, First National Bank, Maotwana Wheels and CEDA among others.
The programme kick-started with horticulture and grain production stall display on Wednesday, which chief organiser, Mr Pieter Van-Den-Heever, said aimed to unlock value through environmentally friendly technological transformation in horticulture.
It will run concurrently with small stock competition, which will start with fat-tail section and meat section on the sheep. The competition is expected to attract small stock breeders from all over Botswana.
On Thursday the programme focused on mining under the theme; Bridging the Gap Between Mining and Agriculture: A Call for Collaboration.
There was also be the goat section on Thursday, whereby the Kalahari Reds and Boer goats competed against each other.
Mr Van-De-Heever indicated that the official opening of the programme, scheduled for Friday, would be centred around the beef sector with comparison of the current beef markets, direct to butchers, speculators, live export and Botswana Meat Commission.
He stated that tented accommodation would be provided starting from budget to luxury tents. ENDS
