The provision of land servicing in the Mheelo area was not included in NDP 9.

Responding to a question in Paliament on Tuesday, November 26, Assistant Minister of Local Government Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said the said area, also  known as Losabanyana, had never been included in NDP 10.

Ms Tshireletso said she was aware that Ngwaketse Land Board through Kanye Sub-land Board allocated plots in Mheelo area prior to the area being serviced with roads, water and power reticulation. In the interim, she told the house that her ministry through the Southern District Council Roads Department will enhance people’s access to their plots.

She said it will be by bush clearing the roads at Lesobanyana using inhouse teams and the Council grader in the coming financial year. Ms Tshireletso was responding to a question asked by Kanye North MP Mr Kentse Rammidi who had asked the minister if she was aware that people allocated plots at Lesobanyana in Kanye had not been serviced with basic amenities like roads, water and electricity for the past two and a half years.

The MP also wanted to know why it was the case and when the problem will be addressed. ENDS
