Bloom Sanitary Pads founder and Botscrest managing director Mr Gogontle Basiami says creating a unique business idea was his dream since childhood.

Speaking to BOPA during Business Botswana Northern Trade Fair in Francistown on Tuesday, he said the plant, set up through financial assistance from CEDA, has the capacity to produce 250 pieces per minute on an eight-hour shift-making 12 000 sanitary pads packs per day at full peak.

“We order material from China because prices are high in our neighbouring countries,” he said.

Mr Basiami said Bloom Sanitary Pads, which come in packets of 10, were found in selected Knock-Out, Foodlovers, Saverite stores and over 70 general dealers countrywide.

“Our products are very affordable and competitive when compared to other existing brands and the aim is to make sanitary pads affordable,” he said.

He said the company had a staff compliment of nine full time officers, three on part time and three temporary employees.

Giving a testimony of the product, Ms Edith Lesole said she found coziness in using the Bloom Sanitary Pads.

“The pads do not leak and have wings for extra protection,” she said, adding that they also come in two types for regular and heavy flow. ENDS
