Madumilano clinch national constituency cup

First time national finalists, Tutume-based Madumilano Football Club, went all out to clinch the coveted national constituency sports cup in Kanye on Sunday.
The team pulled out all stops to beat Young Strikers FC from the Kgalagadi South constituency in the finals, despite all odds.Tutume lads had earlier before the finals, made their intentions clear by mowing down Motshegaletau FC, Limpopo FC and Young Strikers.
Position three went to Mmutlanyana Iphare from Ramatlabama while Palapye Fairways were rooted at position four. Speaking after the match, the winning coach, Mr William Disenkeng was happy for the character his boys displayed throughout the tournament. Madumilano had no regard for whatever team stood on their way and this ensured its rise to the top.
Disenkeng also applauded Member of Parliament for the Nkange constituency Mr Edwin Batshu and Councillor Ishmael Mokgethi for having afforded the team all the support they needed. He said the team would not have made it thus far were it not for their unwavering material support.
Put together, from ward to national level, the team which predominantly comprises unemployed youth amassedP 29 700 worth of prize money. Disenkeng who vowed to come back to defend the title in the approaching cycle, said 40 per cent of the money would be shared amongst players while the rest of the money would be channeled towards sports equipment and day to day running of the club.
In volleyball games, Vergeta male volley ball team from Gaborone North scooped the trophy after beating Ekondomboro from the Okavango area, while in ladies volleyball Real Shooters from Molepolole South beat Kasi 6, to lift the coveted trophy. In netball Bobonong Wizards emerged victorious after beating Delta Queens from Maun. Ends
