Cresta Hotels has joined the country local economic empowerement drive through its  Bona Botswana Jwa Rona initiative.

Briefing the media during the launch recently, Managing Director of Cresta Lodge Mr Mokwena Morulane said the initiative was a collaboration with Brand Botswana and it celebrated local SMMEs as the drivers of the economy. 

He said the selected companies would enjoy support as they would be registered in the Cresta Hotels database. “An initiative such as this one should be able to reciprocate and support SMMEs, as such there will be a portal and register for local produce and goods from local companies,” he said.

He said local tourism had always been able to sustain the economy.

Head of Marketing Ms Lorato Tebogo noted that the initiative aimed to enhance the Group’s continuous gifting and merchandising programme as well as improve a variety of key goods and products used at the hotels. Some of the goods include pottery, crockery and cutlery, drinkware, hats, cultural garments and many others.

Ms Ponalo Tumelo of Brand Botswana commended Cresta Hotels for the initiative. She noted that local produce had a direct impact on the economy hence a critical partner. 

She urged local producers to ensure accountability by producing quality products in an effort to grow the country’s economy. ENDs
