DC Tours has partnered with Botsepa Agencies trading as Ngamiland Horse Racing to deliver Easter Holidays’ horse race in Maun.
This year’s race is dubbed Maun Polo Affair following separation of the organisers and the former sponsor.
The new marriage between DC Tours and Ngamiland Horse Racing was established this month.
The event coordinator, Chalebwa Mabua, told a press conference in Gaborone that horse racing fanatics should look forward to a memorable Easter Holiday.
He said they would launch the new name and reveal sponsors in Maun on April 6.
Mabua said they agreed on the event name because they had the experience of what was happening internationally and with such familiarity, they changed the look of the race.
Mabua said they were expecting delegates from South Africa, Lesotho and Namibia, noting that most of the trained horses came from South Africa.
“This indeed is a sign that the horse race is changing the lives of other people. It is pertinent that the event connects the government and more companies to empower more citizens,” he said.
DC Tours managing director, Lapologang Molemele, said the event would empower artists.
Molemele said they intended to maximise on the value chain opportunities that came with hosting such events.
He said the event would also attract other sponsors, who would come in different brands.
He noted also that having noticed that people parked vehicles far to access the event, they made an agreement with Luna Gardens which is 10 minutes’ walk from where the main event would be.
Motorists would part with P10 to park inside the garden capable of accommodating about 500 vehicles.
Molemele further noted that they had partnered with the Helicopter Company in Maun to ensure availability of transport to health facilities and safe care in case of emergencies.
The company’s Laone Lebese said they were expecting 115 horses to perform noting that they would have stands that would contain around 4 000 people.
Tickets can be found at all Spars in the country and Liquor Rama Stores, she said. ENDS
