Businesses free to self regulate
21 Nov 2013
Businesses are free to regulate their operating hours as the Trade Act does not provide for regulation of trading hours, the Assistant Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Keletso Rakhudu has said.
He was responding to a question from South East South MP, Mr Odirile Motlhale who asked if the minister was aware that the operating hours for most businesses such as hair salons were not conducive for the working public because they ended up having to sneak off work to access such services.
MP Motlhale wanted to know if the minister would therefore consider adjusting the operating hours to enable service providers to close late in the evening. Ends
