Double Action extend lead
27 Mar 2023
Double Action ladies football team on Sunday beat second placed Gaborone United 4-2.
The win extended Double Action’s lead at the top of the Gaborone Region Women’s League Division. The log leaders have accumulated 24 points, followed by GU with 18 points.
The six-goal thriller saw Double Action widening the gap at the top of the log to six points. This was second time lucky for Double Action, having defeated GU 1-0 in the first round of the league.
Despite a positive start and getting an early goal, GU saw its lead cancelled by their opponent’s equaliser, followed by two more goals in the first half and a further one in the second stanza.
GU’s second half goal did not dent the hosts much as they got three points.
Despite the win, Double Action coach, William Monene said he was not impressed with the performance as it was not at the level that he was expecting.
Monene said the team had a winning spirit and therefore managed to win all their matches since the opening of the season and encouraged his players to maintain the team spirit and commitment to the game.
In other results, Township Rollers played to a goalless draw with UB Kicks, with a four goal thriller seeing another draw between Prisons Ladies and FC Ambassadors, while Security Systems Ladies defeated Wonder Girls 5-0. Ends
