International horse track for Palapye
09 Mar 2023
Government plans to construct horse racing track measuring 20.2546 hectares of accepted standards in Palapye and provide for recreational activities.
Assistant Minister of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture, Mr Buti Billy said this when he was responding to a question in Parliament on Wednesday.
“Unfortunately I am not aware of any task team established to work on direct investment of the proposed track development. Due to challenges of funding, I cannot promise anything on the exact date of when the project will commence,” Mr Billy.
He added that the ministry can only estimate the employment opportunities to be created by the project once detailed scope and benefits associated with it were availed.
Mr Billy said the delay of project commencement was due to financial constraints and the ministry endeavoured to prioritise it in the National Development Plan.
Member of Parliament for Palapye, Mr Onneetse Ramogapi had asked the minister to give an update on the international horse track to be built in Palapye. ENDS
