Promotions dependent on post availability
19 Nov 2013
The Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Gaotlhaetse Matlhabaphiri says he is not aware of former industrial class employees who were over-looked for promotion after acquiring relevant qualifications through self-development.
He stated in Parliament on Monday that promotions in the public service were dependent on the availability of vacant positions, requisite competencies for the higher level for which the employee was being considered as well as good performance.
The MP of Okavango, Mr Bagalatia Arone had asked why former industrial class employees who acquired qualifications through self-development were not considered for promotions in the civil service. Ends
