Labour ministry to undertake quarterly visits
28 Feb 2023
The Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs will continue to undertake quarterly visits to Shakawe to provide immigration-related services such as passport, residence permit and citizenship application in the 2023/2024 financial year.
That followed confirmation by labour and home affairs minister, Ms Annah Mokgethi when she was responding to a question in Parliament on Monday, where she acknowledged challenges experienced in Shakawe in accessing such immigration services.
“In view of such, plans are afoot to undertake the necessary assessment and identify a suitable place for the decentralisation of immigration services,” she said.
Member of Parliament for Okavango, Mr Kenny Kapinga had wanted to know if the ministry had any intention to set up an immigration office in Shakawe to deal with immigration-related services, and if so, when such an office could be expected to become operational. ENDS
