Sport expo in May
19 Jan 2023
The first ever sport expo will be held in May.
The event organiser, Mpho Mooka, said the three-day expo would include a symposium, presentations, exhibitions and panel discussion.
In an interview, he said the purpose of the expo was to assemble sport leaders, sportsmen and women as well as administrators under one roof so that they could be educated and informed about the industry.
He further said their goal was to reach out to as many people as possible and to encourage the participation of communities in different sporting activities.
Mooka noted that they would also show support to local businesses involved in the sporting industry.
He promised that organisers would provide an interactive, educational and inspirational environment where everyone involved in the industry would have an opportunity to interact and network.
He said the first day of the expo would be a symposium and that they would have experts in different fields of sport such as business, career development and financial literacy.
Mooka said because of their three-year research and trial run last year, they were confident about delivering a successful sport expo.
“We are expecting a strong attendance,” he said.
He said the panelists would educate on how to make a living out of sport.
He added that during the other two days, some stakeholders would showcase their products.
He said a sport expo was akin to a tree with many branches, adding that all sporting codes would be incorporated.
Mooka also said they would work closely with embassies as they could assist in the development of sport.
He noted that India was good in cricket, Japan in karate and the United States in basketball and athletics.
“Our aim is to lobby them to help with exchange programmes,” he said. ENDS
