Kutlwano police are investigating an incident in which a woman was raped on her way home from a drinking place.

Consequently, acting station commander, Assistant Superintendent Kealeboga Mmereki said in an interview that women needed to find escort or go in groups from drinking places to avoid being attacked.

“They should try to find a responsible person to accompany them until reaching home to avoid incidents of rapes, assault and murder,” he advised.

On other issues, Assistant Supt Mmereki said community members, including drivers and bar owners, were cooperative through out the festive season.

“Although two cases of house breaking were reported, most people engaged private security to guard their homes while they were away. This helped to reduce cases in our policing area. There were also no reports of loud noises as bars and churches in the area were also complying,” he said.

For his part, Assistant Supt Modise Kgatlhang of Tatitown police said they had recorded few minor assault and assault common incidents.

He said bars complied and closed around 1130pm except a few that were issued a license to operate after stipulated times.

On one hand, Masunga police station commander, Supt Raymond Gabothulwe said there were no major cases or fatal accidents reported in 23 villages in his policing area.

He, however, said they were investigating an incident where a 30-year-old man of Mathangwane was found hanging on the rafters of his house on December 30.

In another incident, Francistown police station commander, Supt Mogomotsi Kesupile said a 20-year-old man allegedly hanged himself on the rafters of his house on December 26.
