Reconstruction of Nsuswane Nkange bridges at tender stage
24 Nov 2022
Reconstruction of the Nsuswane and Nkange bridges as well as rehabilitation of the Tutume-Maitengwe road which were damaged during Dineo floods will be done as separate projects.
Answering a question in Parliament, the minister of Transport and Public Works Mr Eric Molale said the tender for Nsuswane and Nkange bridges was currently under adjudication and an award decision was expected by end of this month.
He said the rehabilitation of Tutume-Maitengwe road was also at the tender stage with the tender documentation being finalised for issuing this month.
The minister further explained that the appointment of the contractor was expected during this current financial year with construction commencing during the 2023/24 financial year.
The bridges and the road were first damaged by Dineo floods in 2017 with further damages caused by the October 2020 downpours, which affected the structural integrity of the two bridges.
Minister Molale was responding to a question from Nkange MP Dr Never Tshabang regarding the reconstruction of Nsuswane and Nkange bridges and the status of the Tutume-Maitengwe road. ENDS
