Naming of land boards not discriminatory

13 Nov 2013

The naming of land boards using tribal names is not in any way discriminatory to tribes whose names have not been used.

Minister of Lands and Housing, Mr Lebonaamang Mokalake told Parliament that in the discharge of their duties, the land boards were guided by the provisions of the Tribal Land Act and land was allocated to Batswana irrespective of tribal affiliation.

The minister was responding to a question asked by the Member of Parliament for Okavango, Mr Bagalatia Arone who had asked whether the naming of land boards using tribal names was not discriminatory to those whose tribal names had not been used. Ends
