Subsequent phases of storm water drainage in Tsabong have not been funded yet due to budgetary constraints and challenges by the 2008 economic downturn.

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Ms Talitha Monnakgotla told Parliament that the remaining part of the project could have been addressed through the Tsabong Internal Roads Phase 2 project.

She said since the project had not been funded in both the current Development Plan or the NDP Transitional Plan, her ministry, through the Kgalagadi District Council, would explore the inclusion of the project through the normal planning process.

In the Phase 1 of the project, storm water drainage, was partially provided for through construction of a 21-kilometre roadside drainage system at about P48. 6 million from January 2006 to January 2008.
Mr Sam Brooks of Kgalagadi South had wanted to know the timelines for construction of the storm water drainage system in Tsabong. ENDS
