“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world- these words, by Nelson Mandela are the reason we are gathered here today, to equip learners with tools to change their own world,” she said.

Having witnessed the passion and dedication of the school staff towards education, and the desire for knowledge of the pupils, Ms Porakane said Stanbic bank team decided to get involved.

She noted that Ratsie Setlhako, as a school that admitted learners  with varying needs and limited academic abilities, Stanbic bank had noted the needs that existed, hence the donation.

She added that creating a learning environment suitable for learners with varying ability needs was essential for a productive academic experience.

“We are committed to helping the school facilitate a diversified and inclusive learning environment conducive for all learners," she said.

Member of Parliament for Palapye, Mr Onneetse Ramogapi commended Stanbic bank for the  donation, which he said would go a long way in improving performance at the school's special education unit.

He was however, concerned about the fact that children with special needs had limited academic progression or path going forward.

Mr Ramogapi therefore suggested that government should devise policies that allowed such people to progress until tertiary just like other learners. ENDS
