Thiite wants old AI farm to be converted

06 Nov 2022

Member of Parliament for Ghanzi North intends to present a motion calling for convertion of the old artificial insemination (AI) farm in Ghanzi into a horticultural land.

The idea came after Mr Johane Thiite consulted the relevant ministries and the syndicate, which had been leasing the farm.

He told Ghanzi residents during a kgotla meeting recently that he had already done consultations with concerned stakeholders.

The MP explained that the move would improve food security in the country, adding import restrictions of some horticultural produce called for more production locally.

Mr Thiite said delicate financial and economic situation required self-sustenance, adding efforts such as this would unburden the government because dependency on government was not sustainable.

Briefing the residents about upcoming infrastructure development project expected to change the land scape of the township, the MP said such included the construction of storm water drainage systems,

erection of street lights adding through this project over 1 800 plots would be delivered. Mr Thiite said it would be one of largest projects that ever happened in the district as it would cost over P1.2 billion. ENDS
