Usual contenders make it to semi-finals

Francistown netball side, TASC have made it to the top four teams that will compete for the My Spar My Botswana netball league finals slated for November 24 at Botswana Netball Association (BONA) courts in Gaborone.

Other three teams, which are the usual contenders BDF Cats, UB Crystals and Notwane would also compete at the championship.To grab the semifinal slot at the quarterfinal games played at the Francistown College of Technical and Vocational Education grounds over the weekend, TASC faced tough competition from Jungle Queens which had turned out to be a bitter rival.

TASC won 51-24.The first quarter ended with the two sides at par with each side having netted eight balls and TASC had to regroup in the second quarter to supply their tall goal shooter Violet Moabi with balls.

 It was then that they tripled their lead to 24-14 and 36-19 in the third quarter to finish the game on 51-24. TASC faced Botsrail in the second game where they had it easy winning the game 70-27 before they faced another tough side Notwane in their last game which had to be played under flood lights.

Notwane, aiming to be among the top finishers, battled with TASC until the game ended on a close call at 45-37, with TASC finishing the quarterfinals without a loss.Meanwhile defending champions, BDF Cats came to the game with its development side and a few senior players making up the team.

Unlike their counterparts, Cats did not face any intense competition at the quarterfinals and they proceeded to final on clean slate after beating Sowa Flamingos 75-5 in the first game, UB Crystals 43-36 and Miscellaneous 62-15.

In other results, Notwane walked over Botsrail 55-39 and Queens 46-32. This means that Cats will play against Notwane while TASC will face UB Crystals in the semifinals. Ends
