Botho University has donated 122 books and a computer with library management system to Nata Senior Secondary School library.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony on Tuesday, Botho University Vice Chancellor– Communications, Mr Golekanye Setume said as part of the university’s 25^th anniversary celebrations, they selected a few schools to donate books to.

Mr Setume said Botho University started operating as National Institute of Technology in 1997, offering vocational training programmes in computing. He said the institution grew over the years and upgraded to a registered and  recognised university in 2013.

He donating a computer system for libraries management and books to selected schools, was a way to encourage their potential future students to read.

Mr Setume stated that successfully passing a course depended on one’s determination to study, pass and achieve their dreams.

 He said they had learnt that Nata Senior Secondary had been struggling to achieve good results, which he said prompted them to assist the school.

He noted that the computer system for the library would help the school to adapt to the use of technology, noting that Botho University students were given tablets to use to study using the e-library, which they were also sharing with Nata Senior School.

Mr Setume promised the school management that he would engage with the university leadership to nurture the friendship to make it mutually beneficial.

Earlier on, the school head, Mr Gaositege Chakalisa said the school had been struggling to achieve good results for five consecutive years, with the school obtaining position 32 out of 32 schools, in the 2020 BGCSE results.

Mr Chakalisa said the teachers, learners and management had since introspected and came up with ways of improving the results, which fortunately bore fruits as they scooped position 18 in 2021.

He therefore said the Botho University gesture would help them reach their dream of making it to the top 10 next year.  ENDS
