Rollers BDF XI in goalless draw

11 Nov 2013

The current leaders of be Mobile Premier League loge leaders, BDF XI, have to quickly get over their stalemate with Township Rollers as they face Gaborone United tomorrow evening at the National Stadium.

Matebele, as BDF XI arecalled by their legion of fans, were held to a goalless draw by rejuvenated Rollers in a league game played at SSKB grounds on November 10. BDF remained the only unbeaten team in the league with two draws from nine games and had collected 23 points. Rollers on the other end are in mid table with 15 points and slowly climbing to respectable position after a poor start.

The game had the thrills of an encounter, especially in the first half when Rollers launched attacks as Sekhana Koko, Jerome Louis and Kobamelo Kebaikanye looked for goals only to be denied by keeper Takudzwa Ndoro.

At the other end, Matebele poised danger to Mwampule Masule who was kept on his toes by Saukane Zulu and Mokgathi Mokgathi. However, it was a quiet game for Mokgathi who failed to make his usual runs and shots on goal that saw him called to the national team.

The onus was now on BDF XI gaffer to quickly focus on the Tuesday game against David Bright’s Gaborone United. This is a game both sides would want to win with BDF XI aiming to remain at the peak of the league while Gaborone United alias Moyagoleele needed to keep collecting maximum points to improve their league standings.

Both sides boast quality players and GU were more fired up following their 1-0 victory over Mochudi Centre Chiefs despite being a man down following Edwin Olerile’s red card. Moemedi ‘Jomo’ Moatlhaping needed to quickly rediscover his scoring formula as lately he had been squandering chances and the supporters’ patience is quickly running out.

Bright would be banking on the services of numerous players such as Tebogo Sembowa, Ronald Chikomo and Noah Maposa in goalposts who displayed his best form stopping everything thrown at him.

BDF XI can take solace in the fact that they have some of the best defenders in the country which saw them dissolving Township Rollers’ power play. Like Rollers, GU attacks from the wings and it seems Rasta has a recipe to counter such attacks.

Up front GU, although they also have well organised defence, would need to keep Zulu and Mokgathi under radar.Ends
