Tafic register another win

11 Nov 2013

After a poor start to their season, Tafic Sporting Club seem to have found their winning formula, thanks to their caretaker  Zimbabwean coach, Darlington Dodo who took over after their third consecutive loss when they played against Ecco City Greens.

Playing against Union Flamingo Santos at the Francistown stadium on November 9, Machimenyenga registered their third consecutive win to make 10 points from four matches, a record the coach Dodo said was laudable for a team that had been faced with numerous internal challenges.

Tafic secured their first goal through a controversial penalty which Santos officials protested in the 24th minute which was converted by Witness Livingstone leaving Santos goal minder Boitumelo Kediseng sprawled to the ground.

Looking fierce from the midfield, Tafic pushed to stretch their lead through Holiness Mlilo who on numerous occasions had Gogontle Marumo chasing after his shadows.

Sending instruction signals through the cordon line of the ground, Dodo guided Tafic to their second goal as the players responded well to the charm of their coach even though he was calling from a distance.  Mlilo who was a thorn on the Santos defence was rewarded for his endless attempts as he netted the second goal.

Trailing behind by two goals Santos did not shy away from trying their luck and changing the result before the end of the game. Fifteen minutes before the end, double substitutions by Santos changed the complexion of the game and this gave Vincent Nzombe a free role to shoot at the goals and he scored their only goal to make it 2-1 before the end.

With the narrow margin separating the two sides, the Santos goal motivated them to push forward in an effort to level matters, however Abednico Morapedi was there for his team as he made crucial goals to give his team the important three points. Although it was bitter results for Santos who felt robbed by the match officials, for Tafic’s Dodo the result would be a great motivation for the young Tafic squad which despite on-going issues regarding their welfare continued to give their best in the field.

He noted that if it was not for his uncertain future at the club, with the current performance displayed by the players, he was confident they were going to give many teams a run for their money. Ends
