Botswana Insurance Company (BIC) has announced a P1 750 000 sponsorship to premier league side, Security Systems FC.

Speaking during the sponsorship launch in Gaborone on Tuesday, BIC Group chief executive officer, Newton Jazire, said this would be a five-year deal.Jazire said Security Systems displayed a brave and exciting play in the previous season.

“As BIC, we were excited by the way Security Systems exhibited their craft and we trust that they will continue to improve and bring silverware in the coming season,” he said.

Jazire urged other companies to be involved in football development.

He said partnerships were critical in growing the national sporting arena to monumental heights.Jazire called on Batswana to be part of the mission by attending matches.“Fill up the stadiums both on green and sandy fields,” he said, adding Batswana needed to show up in large numbers to bring life to football.Security Systems’ managing director, Gabriel Nkgetse, expressed gratitude towards BIC, saying the sponsorship showed that BIC was passionate about sport development.

Nkgetse promised that the team would work harder in the coming season to prove that it indeed deserved such support.

For his part, the team chairperson, Lenamile Letsogile, said football in Botswana was yet to reach its epic level and teams were struggling to meet their daily demands.

Letsogile said the gesture from BIC would go a long way in motivating not only players, but supporters to go an extra mile. ENDS
