29 Aug 2022

A group of motorcycle riders, dubbed Let’s Ride, in partnership with several sponsors, on Saturday donated sanitary pads, toiletry and old clothes to the D’kar community.

Speaking during the handing over of donation, Let’s Ride representative, Mr Joe Manuel expressed gratitude towards the sponsors who made the initiative possible.

Mr Manuel said giving was one of God’s principles. He quoted Luke 6:38 Scripture that says “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you”.

For his part, BotswanaPost chief executive officer, Mr Cornelius Ramatlhakwane lauded Let’s Ride’s for the gesture, saying it could transform the lives of the recipients, hence it could not go unnoticed.

He said BotswanaPost associated itself with the Let’s Ride initiative, as giving back and reaching out to communities in the rural setup was part of its espoused culture.

He however cited Matthew 6:2-4 which states: “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets; “But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing…’’

Fours’ representative, Mr Phodiso Marumo, hailed Let’s Ride for bringing a smile to D’kar’s residents’ faces.

Mr Marumo pledged his organisation’s continued support for such initiatives.

In his welcome remarks, Kgosi Wynard Morris of D’kar said the donation was opportune as the community was facing unemployment.

Kgosi Morris revealed that Ipelegeng pragramme remained the only major source of employment in the village, but many  residents remained unemployed.

Kgosi Morris wished  Let’s Ride blessings to continue impacting people’s lives across the country.

For his part, Ghanzi East Sub-district Assistant Council Secretary, Mr Gabobofane Mbwe said the donation would go a long way in helping the community.

He thanked the donors, saying the council was burdened by the needs of community, which it was duty bound to fulfil.

Mr Mbwe challenged the community to exploit their talents to earn a living.

Meanwhile, Let’s Ride member, Mr Samuel Letsholo used the platform to raise motorcycle road safety awareness.

Mr Letsholo appealed to vehicle drivers to be watchful for motor riders, while cautioning fellow riders to always obey road safety measures, as riders were more susceptible to injuries in accidents.

Sponsors included, BotswanaPost, Botswana Power Corporation, Botswana Telecommunications Corporation, Crystal Drop, Brave Hearts, Pico Entertainment, Kalahari Arms, Fours, Griffiths, Felix and Tops Dry Cleaners, among others. BOPA
