Exercise Physical mental fitness booster - Lesaso

 Exercise is not only essential in boosting one’s physical and mental fitness but also leads to a healthier life.

Member of Parliament for Shoshong, Mr Aubrey Lesaso said this when motivating participants during a five-hour aerobics mini marathon hosted by Shoshong Health and Fitness Club in Shoshong recently.

Mr Lesaso said aerobics exercise was also essential and effective in helping one to activate their immune system.

“The great thing about aerobics exercise is that it covers both aspects of mental fitness and physical and strength, which are both core in leading a longer and healthier life,” he said.

Mr Lesaso commended the event organisers for helping promote fitness within the community.

He also pledged support to ensuring the event grew further and became an annual activity.

In his welcome remarks, Shoshong Senior Secondary School head, Mr Batshidi Tsae said it was befitting for him to avail the school hall for the event given numerous health benefits of aerobics activity.

“This is a type of exercise that makes one mentally strong as it also reduces stress. That is why I acceded to the request from the organisers to host the event here at our school. The event has also motivated staff members and learners to also partake in today’s activity,” he added.

In an interview, Shoshong Health and Fitness Club founder and instructor, Mr Kabo Sebinyane explained that his fitness journey began as a passion to become fit and strong, then transitioned into a fulltime health and fitness instructor which resulted in formation of the club.

He said the club was formed in 2017 to help promote health and fitness within the Shoshong community, since there was no gymnasium in the village.

Therefore, he encouraged Shoshong community to join the club in large numbers, saying “regular exercise helps in lowering the risk of developing long-term chronic diseases.”

The event drew participants from community health and fitness clubs in Moiyabana, Maun, Mahalapye, Serowe, Gaborone, Sefhare and Palapye as well as over 20 professional aerobics instructors. ENDS
