23 Aug 2022
Minister of Health, Dr Edwin Dikoloti and other government officials are expected to participate in bilateral meetings at the 72nd session of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Committee for Africa held in Lome, Togo.
A press release from the ministry says the conference began on August 22 and will end on August 26.
The Regional Committee for Africa is WHO’s decision-making body on health policy issues in the African region.
The release says decisions and priorities for the African region are discussed and agreed by health ministers from each of the 47 member states in the region.
It says decisions are then advanced at the various governing body processes at the level of the WHO headquarters as may be appropriate.
Minister Dikoloti is expected back in office on August 29 and assistant minister, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe is currently acting minister. BOPA
