Teachers houses to be considered
18 Aug 2022
Construction of additional teachers houses at Kotolaname, Lesilakgokong and Kubung primary schools will be considered with other competing priorities countrywide, says Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development.
Answering a question in Parliament on Wednesday, Mr Sethabelo Modukanele admitted that teachers’ accommodation was inadequate at those schools.
He said Kotolaname, Lesilakgokong and Kubung primary schools had 15, 12 and 15 teachers respectively. He, however, said the current teachers’ houses in each school were eight, five and eight respectively.
“This translates to numbers of teachers without accommodation in Kotolaname being seven, Lesilakgokong seven and Kubung eight. However, due to budgetary constraints and increases in the schools enrolment, meeting the demand for teachers’ accommodation has not been realised to date,” said the assistant minister.
Thamaga/Kumakwane MP, Mr Palelo Motaosane had asked the minister to explain the state of teachers’ accommodation at the said schools. ends
