Financial constraints delay construction

The 2.67 hectare plot earmarked for the construction of Ngwato Land Board remains undeveloped due to financial constraints.
Responding to a question in Parliament, Minister of Lands and Water Affairs, Dr Kefentse Mzwinila said the piece of land, acquired in 2010, was a consolidation of 10 residential plots adjacent to Serowe Main Mall. He, however, stated that the affected plot owners were duly compensated.
“The plot has largely remained undeveloped over the years despite compensations and relocations of those affected due to lack of funds for the construction and relocation of new land board offices,” he said.
However, he noted that his ministry was still looking for ways to source funds towards the construction of the land board offices while the old offices would be considered for leasing to other entities. Serowe North MP, Mr Baratiwa Mathoothe had asked for an update on future plans regarding the land that was long acquired around the Serowe Old Mall next to Lady Khama Centre. ends
