President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi says the late Mr William Moatlhaping, 80, will be remembered for his work ethic both as a civil servant at Central Transport Organisation and a loyal Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) member.
Speaking during a visit to the Moatlhaping family at Moshupa’s Mokakana Ward on Wednesday, Dr Masisi said the deceased was a reliable individual who served with great commitment and diligence.
He described Mr Moatlhaping as a humble, principled and selfless individual.
A rare and special person as well as a strategic visionary, the President said of the deceased.
Dr Masisi said he also remembered Mr Moatlhaping for his love for education and farming.
“We met sometime back where he was worried that we have long parted and we agreed that we shall spend this year’s festive season together,” the President recalled.
He implored the deceased’s family to rely on their faith as they mourned their loved one’s passing.
“Let us be consoled, let us console each other in this difficult time, with the understanding that it is hard for all of us to admit that he is no more,” he said.
MP for Moshupa-Manyana, Mr Karabo Gare thanked Dr Masisi for having found time in his busy schedule to commiserate with the Moatlhaping family.
He pleaded with the family to look unto God for strength and consolation in their bereavement.
Family representative, Ms Anastacia Moatlhaping said Mr Moatlhaping’s condition deteriorated drastically after the death of his younger brother some two weeks ago.
He was attended at MmaSeetsele Clinic last week and later referred to Kanye Seventh Day Adventist Hospital where he died only a day after being hospitalised.
Born in 1942, Mr Moatlhaping leaves behind five children, a son and four daughters and 11 grandchildren
Also in the President’s entourage were Assistant Minister for State President, Mr Dumezweni Mthimkhulu, Thamaga-Kumakwane MP, Mr Palelo Motaosane and other dignitaries. ends
