DTRS partners with FNBB for payments
11 Aug 2022
The Department of Road Transport and Safety (DRTS) has partnered with First National Bank Botswana (FNBB) for online payments as a long-term solution towards reducing congestion at transport offices. The partnership is expected to commence by the end of September, Minister of Transport and Public Works, Mr Eric Molale has told Parliament.
“The Department of Road Transport has partnered with First National Bank to create online platforms for all DRTS services and when completed, will help customers to pay from the convenience of their homes and then collect documents as some of these documents are security documents.
The services are expected to go live by the end of September,” he said. In the meantime, the minister noted, the partnership between DRTS and BotswanaPost for both online and physical services had seen the establishment of kiosks at 20 Choppies stores across the country as a way of bringing such services closer to customers.
He attributed the long queues at DRTS offices to limited online platform options and slow processes deployed such as the computer system. Tati West MP, Mr Simon Moabi had asked the minister to state what caused queues at all Department of Transport offices in Botswana, and if the ministry had a solution to the problem. ENDs
