Mannathoko water project complete

04 Aug 2022

The Mannathoko water supply project is complete and has been operational since June this year.

Minister of Lands and Water Affairs, Dr Kefentse Mzwinila said the final commissioning and taking over was conducted on 21 July 2022, and that the project was now under a 12 months defects liability period from the takeover date.

He said the scope of the project included the design and construction of a booster pump station at Serowe Hotel water storage site and an approximately 60 kilometres long transmission pipeline and associated works. He added that the project also included an elevated 200 000 litres galvanised steel tank at Mannathoko storage tank site.

“The objective of the project is to improve water supply in Mannathoko ward in Serowe, Paje and Mabeleapodi villages which will insure that water reaches out to all consumers in the villages,” said the minister.

Dr Mzwinila noted that the project was delayed due to poor performance by the contractor.

He said the contractor was assisted with direct payment arrangements to key suppliers and procurement of key materials to complete the project.

Serowe North MP, Mr Baratiwa Mathoothe had asked the minister for an update on the status of the Serowe, Paje and Mabeleapodi water projects. Ends
