03 Aug 2022
The newly appointed ambassador to Zimbabwe has been reminded that Botswana strongly supports the lifting of international sanctions imposed on the neighbouring country.
Receiving the ambassador designate Ms Sarah Molosiwa at his office yesterday, President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi told her that the assignment was primarily about promoting cooperation as well as political, social and economic ties between the two nations.
Urging her to assist accordingly as she had the requisite skills, Dr Masisi also told her to be congnisant of the fact that the two countries not only shared a long border but long historical ties.
In response, Ms Molosiwa expressed appreciation and gratitude for the assignment and pledged commitment in all areas.
She said one of the pertinent issues was the desire by Zimbabwe to be part of the Kazungula Bridge project and therefore her assignment would focus on resolving the issue.
Meanwhile, a July 9 Ministry of Foreign Affairs media release says Ms Molosiwa had an illustrious public service career spanning over 30 years.
She has served in the ministries of foreign affairs, health, agriculture as well as works and transport, says the release.
It says she brings to the position a wealth of experience as a public policy advisor and administrator. ENDS
