Tsodilo Community Development Trust aims to embark on a marketing strategy to promote Tsodilo Hills World Heritage Site.

Tsodilo Community Development Trust chairperson Mr Moronga Kopepa said in an interview on Tuesday that they had observed that the Tsodilo Hills World Heritage Site received low numbers of tourists who utilised their campsites hence the need to embark on a robust marketing strategy of the Site.

Mr Kopepa said, “We are lacking in the area of marketing and we have recently hired some people to work on that area although they are not highly skilled.”

He said due to its rich historical and cultural importance, Tsodilo Hills acquired its UNESCO World Heritage Site recognition about 20 years ago, further noting that its geographical location was still not known to some people locally and across the world.

Tsodilo Hills is located about 30 kilometres from Nxamasere village in the Okavango area and is known for its ancient rock art paintings and has some caves and unique religious and spiritual significance to the San people of the Kalahari Desert.

For his part, Kgosi Kelebetse Keasheta of Tsodilo appealed to locals to visit Tsodilo Hills World Heritage Site in high numbers to help bring developments to the area.

Kgosi Keasheta observed that Tsodilo Hills provided leisure and a unique attraction with its rock paintings.

The senior museum assistant for Tsodilo, Mr Kabo Kelebetse requested government, through different departments and other stakeholders to support the Tsodilo community and the trust to ensure the Tsodilo Hills World Heritage Site was protected and kept clean. ENDS
