27 Jul 2022
Murder accused, Lovemore Sithole will know the outcome of his bail application on August 11.
Despite the prosecution’s fears for his safety, Sithole applied for bail when he appeared for status hearing before Lobatse Magistrate Kaveri Kapeka July 27.
He requested to be released on bail following the prosecution’s request that he further be remanded in custody as he might interfere with ongoing investigations.
In his application for bail, Sithole indicated that he was the sole provider for his family, adding that releasing him on bail would not by any chance interfere with the investigations.
“I will not interfere with the investigations.
They know where I stay and they have seized my passport.
My vehicle is also impounded by the police. I will fully cooperate with the police,” he said.
Responding to Sithole’s application, the prosecutor, Ms Tamela Mbulawa said the prosecution still stood by the reasons that were advanced in the previous appearance, requesting for Sithole’s remand.
Ms Mbulawa also indicated that it was not easy to ascertain when the investigations were likely to conclude, as they were determined to carefully scrutinise any piece of evidence at their disposal.
She said some potential witnesses were yet to be interviewed and that the investigating team was also awaiting results of exhibits from the police forensic laboratory.
The accused person is said to have on March 18, between Molapowabojang and Lobatse murdered Tlotso Karema. ENDS
