No plans for satellite school in Goora-Seno
26 Jul 2022
There are currently no plans to establish a satellite school at Goora-Seno in Kanye North constituency, says Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development.
Answering a question in Parliament on Monday July 25, Mr Sethabelo Modukanele said establishing a satellite school depended on various factors, including funds availability, the number of pupils as well as the distance to the nearest school.
He noted that 18 children from Goora-Seno attended school at Phutisutlha Primary School in Lotlhakane which was 6km away. He said the learners used public transport to get to school.
MP for Kanye North, Mr Thapelo Letsholo had asked the minister to apprise Parliament on access to education for children from Goora-Seno in the Kanye North constituency, and to state how many children in Goora-Seno attended primary school.
He also wanted to know where these children attended primary school and the distance in kilometres from Goora-Seno to the specific schools.
Mr Letsholo had asked how the children travelled to those schools, and if the ministry would consider establishing a satellite primary school at Goora-Seno. Ends
