DPSM at helm of government agenda - Macholo

24 Jul 2022

The Directorate of Public Service Management (DPSM) leadership has been reminded of its government agenda responsibilities.

“We are the leaders of the government agenda and government depends on us to lead this agenda. And to be able to achieve this, we carry with us the leadership and all government employees.”

DPSM director, Ms Gaone Macholo said this at the opening of the organisation’s leadership retreat held under the theme, Achieving High Performance Culture, in Mahalapye recently.

She  encouraged the team to create an environment where all employees felt engaged.

Ms Macholo also emphasised the importance of continuous engagement with trade unions to ensure that all agreements with the public employees’ representatives were executed.

“We all know that higher levels of engagement lead to higher levels of productivity and higher levels of productivity obviously result in a higher performance culture,” she said.

Ms Macholo said achieving a high performance culture required availability of resources, understanding the mandate, commitment and overcoming challenges.

“So today is about dreaming, alignment, commitment and saying yes to all of that which speaks to our alignment and then go and make it happen,” she said of the retreat.

She explained that its aim was to set the tone and chart the way forward on ways of working together.

“If we do it right, we will be able to lead well with a clear understanding of what the Rest Agenda is all about and how to make it achievable and execute it accordingly,” said Ms Macholo.

She challenged her team to make personal commitment to ensure that all the retreat’s recommendations were realised.

Amongst the attendees was Chief of Staff Mr Boyce Sebetlela who assisted with the formulation of DPSM’s performance plan and alignment with  the national agenda and all strategic initiatives which all converged into Vision 2036.

Also in attendance were DPSM executive director, Mr David Mmusetsi, deputy directors, Dr Omponye Kereteletswe and Ms Tebogo Mogotsi as well as legal counsel, Mr Tefo Bogosi.

The retreat included various activities aimed at stimulating creativity, high energy levels and team work. Ends
