Preparations for schools construction in Maun Shakawe ongoing

21 Jul 2022

Sectaf Architects Company has been engaged to provide pre-contract consultancy services for the proposed fully fledged primary schools in Maun and Shakawe.

The company is expected to complete the works within four months, commencing on August 1 and ending November 28 after which construction of the envisaged projects is expected to commence.

The Maun one is earmarked for Sennonori ward while the Shakawe will be constructed at Rwee ward once the issue of availability of the plot is resolved.

Speaking during the signing of the contract, North West District Council secretary, Mr Motlogelwa Thuso urged the company officials to execute the projects expeditiously as they were a priority.

The projects, he said, were delayed as  some bidders had appealed the tender award.

“After signing, we want to see your revised plan of work and when the actual construction will start. If you have issues feel free to engage us because the projects are long overdue. We are happy that you have a good record and we believe that you will give quality product,” Mr Thuso told Sectaf Architects Company officials.

Regarding the issue of availability of plot at Shakawe, the council secretary assured the contractor that the relevant authorities were working round the clock to finalise the matter.

He said given availability of plot in Maun, the contractor could advise whether to separate the two projects while the pending issue at Shakawe was being finalised.

The company officials were advised to familiarise themselves with the new tendering legislation  as regulations had changed.

Sectaf Architects Company director, Mr Michael Tafila said they were committed to delivering the projects on time to enable provision of services to the public, adding that they had already put the resources together and were ready to commence.

“We will do our best to produce what is required to your satisfaction,” he added.

Meanwhile, the council continues to accelerate efforts to implement initiatives geared towards improving access to education by all children.

The two schools are expected to reduce the long distances that leaners have been travelling to access education.
