Over 90 junior secondary schools to get porta-cabins

Ninety-two junior secondary schools across the country are earmarked for supply with porta cabins to ease classroom shortage.
Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Aubrey Lesaso said of the 441 classrooms, 100 classrooms had been supplied.
He added that 196 were under construction and 88 were yet to be awarded while 30 were canceled tenders, which were being re-entered.
Mr Lesaso, who was responding to a Parliamentary question on Wednesday, said three schools were earmarked for this initiative in the Bobirwa Sub-region.
He said the schools were Sefhophe JSS and Makome Hill JSS with two classrooms each as well as Mosetlha JSS in Bobonong with four classrooms.
“The construction of the works in the schools commenced in December 2021 and was expected to be completed in January 2022. The completion date was extended to March 2022,” said the assistant minister.
Bobonong MP, Mr Taolo Lucas had wanted to know the number of schools earmarked for such caravans, the schools and the number of caravans to be allocated to schools in the Bobirwa Sub-region. BOPA
